Jump to: navigation, search

Acetate Base is a non-inflammable base support for film emulsions which replaces the highly inflammable cellulose nitrate base. It is the tranparent cellulose acetate plastic film which for years served as the backing for magnetic recording tape. See Acetate Base Film.

Bases known as "acetate" are chemically either cellulose diacetate, cellulose acetate propiarate, cellulose acetate butyrate, or cellulose triacetate.
